Delhi Crime Branch arrested wanted gangster after an exchange of fire

The gangsters allegedly fired at two crime branch officials in an attempt to escape the arrest

New Delhi, March 25

The Delhi Crime Branch in a midnight operation arrested a gangster and his associate who were wanted in MCOCA Act.

The accused identified as Rohit Chaudhary and his associate Praveen alias Titu were carrying a cash reward on their name of Rs. four lakhs and Rs. two lakhs respectively.

The crime branch officials stated that the agency had received specific input that Chaudhary and Titu were going to arrive at Bhairon Marg in a blue Glanza car. 

The crime branch formed a special team to lay a trap and arrest the duo. At about 4:50am, the duo were spotted the said car and were asked to stop. However, the driver hit the police barricade trying to hurt the policemen and attempted to escape the spot. He allegedly fired at the police while speed passing the spot. 

The crime branch team fired at the accused when the bullet hit the bullet proof jackets of crime branch ACP Pankaj and Sub Inspector Priyanka. In the exchange of fire, both gangsters received injuries on their leg. 

The crime branch shifted the accused to  to RML hospital through the PCR. 


The officials added that both the accused were wanted in multiple cases of murder, attempt to murder and robberies under various sections of the Indian Penal Code in the national capital.
