DELHI POLICE SPECIAL CELL ARRESTS INTER STATE GANG FOR ALLEGED ARMS SUPPLY IN DELHI

24 illegal weapons were seized from the accused of Uttar Pradesh.

New Delhi, March 5

The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested three key members of an alleged illegal arms supply racket.

The accused were identified as Bhuvanesh Kumar Singh (24) alias Chamna from Hathras in Uttar Pardesh,  Raukesh Kumar (23) also from Hathras and Chanderveer Singh (23) from Aligarh in UP. 

DCP Special Cell Sanjeev Yadav  states that the special cell seized a consignment of 24 illegal weapons alongwith the mobile phone, SIM card and a stolen car No. DL-9CY– 5897 that was allegedly being used in supply of illegal arms has been recovered.

The special cell while keeping a close surveillance on the activities of gun runners found a new syndicate that supplied firearms in Delhi. The cell when investigated deeper found that illegal weapons are mainly pumped in Delhi from the areas of Khargaon, Dhar, Badwani & Burhanpur (MP) besides other areas of the country by the members of this syndicate. 

The special cell specific information on March 4 that two arms suppliers of Uttar Pradesh who are supplier of arms and ammunition to criminals in Delhi will come near Helipad area, Rohini for supply of large consignment of illegal arms. The team set up a trap at T-Point near Helipad, Rohini Delhi on the road toward Karala. 

The officials stated that at about 10:25PM, a WagonR car No DL-9CY– 5897 white colour stopped at the T-Point near Helipad on the road toward Karala. Two persons get off from the car, one with black shoulder bag and another with white carry bag. When the team asked them to surrender, they reportedly tried to escape. However, the proactive police team immediately cornered and apprehended them. 

The officials added that14 illegal pistols were recovered from Bhuvnesh Kumar and 10 illegal Pistols were recovered from Roukesh Kumar. At the time of apprehension, they were traveling in a car WagonR no- DL-9CY– 5897 white colour, which was later found to be stolen in 2014 from Rajouri Garden. The car was being driven by their accomplice Chanderveer Singh whom they used to pay money for every transportation of illegal weapons. 

The accused have been booked under Section 411 of the Indian Penal Code and IPC & section 25 of the Arms Act. 

Elaborating more on the accused, the officials said Bhuvanesh Kumar has studied B. Pharma but he worked as a bouncer. During the lockdown due to Covid-19 he lost his job.  He then contacted one Rakesh of Burhanpur, MP, an arms supplier, and entered into the business of illegal arms supply. Initially he used to supply illegal weapons to local gangsters but sooner he got in contact with criminals of Delhi, Meerut and Haryana and started supplying illegal weapons to them. 

He further disclosed to police that he supplied arms at Rs. 15,000/- per pistol. Pistols supplied by him in Delhi eventually go in the hands of dreaded criminals in Delhi and adjoining states for Rs. 25,000/- to 35,000 per pistol, the officials added. 

Raukesh Kumar reportedly joined the gang at the instance of Bhuvanesh Kumar for easy money while Chanderveer Singh used to learn work of motorcycle mechanics in Mursan of Hathras but he came in contact with Bhuvanesh Kumar and started transportation of illegal ammunitions for easy money. 

He allegedly bought a stolen vehicle WagonR from one of his contacts in Delhi and started going with Bhuvanesh Kumar to receive weapons from Burhanpur. Later he became confident driver of Bhuvanesh Kumar and both of them started making multiple trips to Burhanpur to receive delivery of arms for supplying them to different parts of Delhi, Haryana and UP.     

The special cell believes that the busting of this gang has brought key arms suppliers in police net while more would be apprehended in further investigation. process to apprehend the other associates.
