Delhi Police awarded schools in the city for road safety awareness programmes

Delhi Police Week 2021 celebrations: Commemorative Function of Road Safety Club

New Delhi, February 20

The Delhi Police celebrated commemorative function of road safety at the new police headquarters in New Delhi. 

Speaking on the occasion, Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava emphasised on the importance of inculcating correct road user behaviour in the minds of youngsters so that by the time they grow up they imbibe good road safety values. 

Shrivastava appreciated the efforts on the part of Delhi Traffic Police especially the Road Safety Cell in spreading road safety awareness among the masses as well as school children, which has gone a long way in reducing the number of fatalities on Delhi roads. 

In order to engage and educate, the police also distributed prices to the winners of various competitions organized during the observance of National Road Safety month. 

On the occasion, prizes were also given to the first, second and third prize. The children had participated in various competitions from quiz to poetry writing and recitation, slogan writing and Mime Act at virtual platforms. 

In addition to that the Delhi Police awarded the Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya of Raj Niwas Marg with the Road Safety Rolling Trophy along with cheque for Rs. 21,000/-. This school was adjudged as the best school that had made maximum contribution towards promotion of road safety among the masses by organising innovative awareness campaigns involving students and schools. 

Government Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Ali Pur, was adjudged the runner up school and was felicitated on the occasion with a cheque for Rs. 11,000/- and a commendation certificate. 

The officials added that all the prizes and cash rewards were sponsored by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
